I’m happy to report that we were finally able to have our first DE event of the year last weekend. Club Motorsports in Tamworth NH was the venue and as some of you know it is a beautiful setting and an awesome track with a 40 foot wide ribbon of smooth pavement over 2.5 miles of uphills and downhills. With temps and humidity levels hovering around 90 degrees and 90 percent it was HOT and sticky. The track management graciously provide large tubs filled with water bottles and ice that helped keep us hydrated. They also set up cooling fans and a misting fan in the big tent to help cool us down.
The driving was excellent with only a couple of spins and off-track excursions that required yellow flags. Thanks to all who attended for making it safe and fun. Since we could not have in-car instructors, we could not have beginner and novice drivers with us, this event it was changed to solo drivers only. At our next event coming up the second weekend in September we may be able to bring those drivers back to the track if the government rules allow. Stay tuned and visit the DE page on the NCR website for unfolding information. We did miss having our new and almostnew people there but we had no choice.
Upcoming event include NER’s annual 3-day event at Watkins Glen International. It is another awesome venue and a bucket-list track for many drivers. Our next (and last) event of the season will be at Club Motorsports as previously mentioned. We anticipate a sell out so sign up early particularly if you are a new or novice driver. Due to the COVID situation our instructors will have to sign up to take a student on an individual basis.
I also want send out a special thanks to our hard-working track committee for pulling together and making this past weekend a success under trying circumstances. You guys (and gals) rock.
